About Dr. Burt Staniar

Dr. Burt StaniarDr. Burt Staniar is a faculty member in Penn State’s Department of Dairy & Animal Science.  He has been interested in horses and science for as long as he can remember.  His areas of specialty are nutrition, growth and development, and metabolic regulation.

Dr. Staniar teaches a number of courses in and outside the area of equine science.  He also advises the newly formed Penn State Equine Research Team, a student organization that provides undergraduate students an opportunity to learn about the field of equine research.

Studying and improving equine health and performance through science based research is an important part of Dr. Staniar’s role.  Dr. Staniar works with other faculty and graduate students to conduct various research trials.  You can read more about Dr. Staniar’s research here.
